Aglo Systems worked with Metcash to conduct a trial of aisle lighting at IGA Georges Hall in NSW. As the flagship store, the site already had good-quality lighting; however, Metcash wanted to explore the latest technology in lighting solutions and industry best practice.
We proposed the Mondolux Mons-C LED trunking system, which provides a continuous line of lighting in a sleek and compact fitting that can be surface-mounted or suspended. This all-in-one system offers a 5-wire trunking rail, interchangeable LED module, and lens optic supplied together, which makes it easy to install. It has an excellent energy efficiency of 160lm/W at 80CRI and enables 3-circuit track to be integrated to mount spotlights for display highlighting.
The colour temperature of the store was 5000k, which is a cool white. Our lighting design concept moved towards a warmer white 4000K, which is more homely and inviting. It is also evokes the feeling of a boutique store, with perceived higher-quality premium products and service.
To conduct the trial, the LED trunking in 4000K was installed in Aisle 6 only, to provide a distinct comparison to the traditional 5000K T5 fluorescent luminaires in adjacent aisles.
The result is noticeably different, with Metcash very happy with the results of the trial. The site will be used as an example for Franchisees to see best practice of lighting design moving forward.
Separate to the aisle lighting trial, the deli area of the same store was upgraded with Mondolux Polar Downlights.
