Matchbox Victoria Gardens

Matchbox is a kitchen and homewares store with retail sites spread throughout  VIC, QLD and WA.  The Victoria Gardens store’s overall lux levels were quite low, using metal halide downlights which had gradually dimmed over time. These fittings also generated a high level of heat with staff then complaining about the heat in the store. This lead them to run the air conditioners into overdrive and rendered them ineffective.

Our new lighting design involved replacing the existing lighting with premium LED fittings. The current light positioning and ceiling cutouts were retained. The fittings selected allowed for minimal scalloping on the walls and an even illumination for the floor area. All fittings were neutral 4000K and high CRI 90 to ensure accurate colour representation and crisp whites.

Upgrading to energy efficient LED fittings had an excellent outcome, saving this store over $11,433 annually in reduced power usage and maintenance and a ROI of 6 months. The store now looks brighter and more welcoming with all displays effectively lit.

Note: Since the time of writing, some products used on this project have been discontinued or replaced with Mondolux branded fittings.
