Cost Effective Pendant Light Rejuvenation

Church refurbishment upcycles pendant lights to give new life to old light fittings.

Aglo Custom team worked with 2B Designed Architects for this tight budget, quick turn around job at Saint Stephens Catholic Church in Reservoir, VIC. As part of the church interior renovation, a method of modernising the 8 existing pendant lights was required.

For the refurbishment, each fitting was gently dismantled, cleaned and repainted. The design brief included re-imagining the existing plain acrylic diffusers to echo the stained glass panels in the chapel. Unfortunately, the Church budget could not accommodate for hand made stained glass diffusers, therefore an alternative cost effective solution was proposed. The result involved photographing the actual stained glass panels and printing the image onto clear adhesive vinyl which was wrapped around the cleaned acrylic diffuser of the pendant. The internal fittings were also upgraded in process from fluorescent tubes to an LED light source.

The final modernised pendants match the stained glass windows beautifully and look convincingly authentic.
