Architectural Lighting Solution for Revitalisation of Metropolitan Hotel

Aglo’s Specialist Projects and Custom Design teams, in close collaboration with Adrian Pizzey Lighting Design and esteemed partners The Prime Group and Bates Smart, are delighted to contribute to the transformation of the historic 170-year-old Metropolitan Hotel in Melbourne’s legal precinct. This heritage-listed gem has undergone a remarkable redevelopment, orchestrated to perfection, with a particular focus on architectural lighting. The result is a captivating and vibrant space, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge design, where patrons can enjoy a sophisticated atmosphere for drinking, dining, and live music across its three distinct levels.

Aglo worked in close partnership with Bates Smart and Adrian Pizzey Lighting Design to ensure that the luminaires selected met the project’s aesthetic, resulting in a gorgeous blend of contemporary architectural design with historical industrial overtones.

The range of lighting products used in this project were carefully selected based on their ability to enhance the space’s atmosphere and meet the design brief. Mondolux products selected included: Cannes Midi, Infinito Albi Pinhole, Catania Mini, Linea Neon Side Bend 10W, Stealth 1715 Surface Mounted and Linea COB 10W. The project features warmer colour temperatures, with 2700K for the downlights and spotlights, and 2100K for linear luminaires. These warm colour temperatures create a warm and intimate atmosphere downstairs in the Ground Floor Restaurant/Bar and Rooftop Bar areas; in the Cocktail Bar, the warm CCT creates a moody and elegant ambience.
