Aglo’s Custom Design Team were delighted to collaborate with FEC and FPOV to manufacture multiple custom light fittings for the recently opened Ritz-Carlton, Perth. Set along the Elizabeth Quay riverfront in Perth’s Central Business District, the 18-story, 205-room hotel was designed by architects Cottee Parker and features a pink mirrored glass-lined exterior that reflects the Swan River sunlight, and evokes the Argyle pink diamond that’s found in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The hotel pays homage to the location, drawing on the natural landscape with nods to its culture and geography.
Our Custom Design team demonstrated its added value by working to engineer the concepts presented by FPOV to a truncated schedule. Over 200 custom luminaires were engineered, manufactured and delivered as part of the project across multiple areas of the hotel including the lobby, pre-function spaces, VIP areas, Ritz-Carlton Spa, ballroom, guest rooms, suites, Hearth Restaurant and Song Bird Bar and Lounge. Materials used to create the custom manufactured fittings included electro plated stainless steel, crackle glass, acrylic, crystal, textured glass and brushed finish metals. A variety of custom manufacturing processes were utilised, including sheet metal bending, electro plating, powder coating, laser cutting , welding, polishing, grinding and glass blowing to produce the luminaire.
The custom luminaires were inspired by Western Australian landscapes including:
The project ran across an 18-month duration and followed the custom design process including preliminary design, detailed design, shop drawings, sample approval, production, QC, shipment and installation.
