The office lighting environment profoundly impacts an individual’s performance and overall well-being. Extensive research has highlighted the benefits of good quality lighting over poor lighting. Well-designed lighting in an office space can improve concentration levels, satisfaction, health, and productivity, whereas poorly designed lighting can lead to eye strain, headaches, and reduced alertness.
At Aglo Systems, we understand the importance of office lighting and its impact on creating a productive, comfortable, and welcoming workspace. Our expertise lies in designing lighting solutions that promote productivity, creativity, and positivity. When developing our lighting for offices, we carefully consider several factors to meet each client’s unique requirements:
Types of Work: We consider the nature of the tasks performed in the office space. Whether extensive screen use, fine detail work, or colour grading is involved, we ensure that our design for the lighting provides appropriate illumination levels to support these activities. Luminaires with a high Colour Rendering Index (CRI) are recommended for color-critical work.
Flexibility: We create office lighting plans that can accommodate changes in work activities based on our clients’ evolving needs. We understand that work requirements may change over time, and our designs are adaptable to support these transitions.
Safety: Ensuring the safety of workers is a top priority. We design lighting solutions that facilitate easy identification of hazards in the office environment, promoting a secure workspace.
Comfort and Productivity: Our lighting experts prioritise creating a safe and comfortable visual environment that enhances productivity and team member satisfaction. We consider factors such as glare reduction, proper colour temperature, and appropriate lighting levels to optimize the overall lighting experience.
To ensure compliance with Australian Standards, we adhere to the following recommendations:
General Lighting: AS/NZS 1680.2.4:1997 recommends a value of 160 lux for general work areas. A 320-400 lux range for office lighting with moderately difficult visual tasks is recommended.
Access and Stair Lighting: AS/NZS 1680.2.4:1997 recommends a minimum value of 40 lux for walkways and access areas to ensure safe movement. In some cases, higher levels may be necessary based on specific circumstances.
Emergency Lighting: Depending on the office type, either AS/NZS 3012:2010 or AS 2293.1 is utilized. AS/NZS 3012:2010 applies to construction and demolition categorized offices requiring battery-powered lighting near passageways, switchboards, and stairways. AS 2293.1 outlines requirements for emergency escape lighting and exit signs in buildings, emphasizing the location of emergency escape luminaires near doorways.
By working closely with our clients, we comprehensively understand their specific lightingrequirements. Based on this understanding, we provide personalised lighting for your office concepts and schedules that cater to their needs.
