Richmond Quarter Stage 3: Modern Office Lighting Solutions

The Aglo Specialist Projects team, in their continued collaborations with Prime Electrical & Data and ADP Consulting Engineers, brought to life the Richmond Quarter Stage Three and Four precinct at 261-271 Bridge Road, Richmond, VIC. This impressive project, completed in 2023, stands out for its innovative approach to modern office lighting and design. This modern office development forms part of the Richmond Quarter precinct, a vibrant revitalisation of the historic Coles arcade on Bridge Road.

Stage Three consisted of the base build of the office space, followed by the tenancy fitout for Stage Four. Designed specifically to be a creative commercial hub unlike any other, where workers and visitors can meet, collaborate and be inspired. Situated in close proximity to the Melbourne CBD, Cremorne Creative Precinct, and the Epworth Hospital Precinct, this project draws on the community’s proud history of trade, innovation and creativity under one roof.

The project required a lighting solution that not only delivered on aesthetic appeal but also offered superior functionality. This approach allowed for the base build lighting to be adaptable, ensuring it could be easily reconfigured to meet the specific requirements of different tenancies. Aglo’s contribution to the lighting design, in partnership with ADP, was crucial for the RQT3 Base Build and parts of the RQT4 tenancy, blending technical proficiency, creative ingenuity and extensive project management. The final result balances aesthetic intent, technical lighting requirements, and installation flexibility for the tenant, delivered against the backdrop of COVID-driven delivery and installation complexities.

The range of lighting products used in this project were carefully selected based on their ability to enhance the space’s ambiance and meet the project’s technical and design brief. Mondolux products selected included: Mons-D Trunking, Infinito Bron Square Downlights, Esen Downlights, Pescara Spotlights, Linea Neon Top Bend 10W Linear LED, and Cannes Midi Downlights. The colour temperatures of these lights, predominantly at 3000K and 4000K, were chosen to create a welcoming yet productive atmosphere throughout the office spaces.

The project spanned several months, with RQT3 being delivered between June and August 2022, and RQT4 reaching completion in March 2023. The Richmond Quarter Offices stand today as a testament to the successful integration of architectural design and advanced lighting solutions.
